About MIT App Inventor:
MIT App inventor is a blocks-based tool that enables creation of mobile application for Android and iOS. It is a great platform for kids to showcase creativity without writing code.

How to join the class

The class will be on YouTube live. There will be no Google meet or Zoom meeting.The link will be provided to everyone who has registered.

1. Will this session teach me coding scripts?
No, this will not teach any coding. MIT App Inventor is a block-based environment that enables you to create mobile apps without writing code. You will still need to use logic to associate the blocks. There is nothing automatic – it will still require you to create a user interface and associate functional blocks for the UI components.

2. What is the use of attending this session?
This session will give you a quick start to creating mobile apps. If you like the session, then continue attending otherwise you can just quit.

3. I am a teacher/parent, can I attend?
Anyone can attend the session. But you really need to be little hands-on to get a hold of what we are doing.

4. Will I be able to use Android Studio after attending this session?
No, Android studio on requires Java/Kotlin coding – this session will not give you any help in Android studio.

5. Will you be giving certificate for attending the session?
No, there are no plans to give any certificate just for attending the session. But if you participate in the App Challenge contest then you may get a certificate based on the app you submitted (i.e. you cannot submit any basic app and assume that you will get a certificate). Details will be posted later, first let us learn App Inventor.

6. Do I have to attend the session to participate in the App Inventor Challenge contest?
No, there is no requirement that you need to attend the session to participate in the App Inventor challenge contest.

7. After attending this session, will I be able to build my own app only on MIT app inventor or any other platforms? Also, what kind of apps will I learn to build?
The session targets only MIT App Inventor, so you will be able to build only the MIT App Inventor apps. You can build various apps as per your imagination!

8. I am not a CS student and don’t know any coding language – will it help me?
You need not be a CS student & no prior knowledge of coding is assumed.
You will still be able to create Apps. What you practice is the key for your progress.

9. I have gone through many advanced levels of coding, will this help me to develop my coding skills?
This will not help in coding. It is mainly for beginners. You can attend the first session and see how this whole thing works. And continue, if you find it interesting.

10. I did not get any email, can I still join?
Yes, you can still join using the link provided.

11. Can i create app using App Inventor and put it on Google playstore?
Yes, you can create app and put it on Google playstore. You will need to follow the procedure as given by Google to put an app on playstore

July 1st, 2022 Contest Launch
July 17th, 2022 Guidance session / Doubt clearing session (Optional)
Narayan to discuss with individuals privately on the idea and how it can be implemented (parents/guides/mentor can also be present). Interested participants must send an email to sciencesocietyindia@gmail.com and take a prior appointment for this.
August 15th, 2022 Final project submission. Submit a 3-minute video and the project aia file. Note: AIA file can be exported from App Inventor using Project->Export feature.
September 4th, 2022 Here are the top winners:
